Namspace Contractors CC was established by Gavin Hanssen in 2006 with the start of the Langer Heinrich Uranium Project in the Namib Desert in Namibia.

Gavin grew up on a farm in Namibia and has always been keenly interested in technical matters. He studied Mechanical Engineering in South Africa and then worked for the Namibian Department of Water Affairs for three years. At age 22 he left the government service to become an entrepreneur.  He designed and built beach buggies, rebuilt 4x4 vehicles and launched a safari company called Wild About Africa.  An exciting twelve years of touring followed.   However, when a Greenfield project arose at the Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine, Gavin seized the opportunity to return to engineering.

With a team of eight workers he subcontracted to the mine for more than twelve months before establishing his own modular building company, Namspace Contractors. The first project entailed moving a 700-man construction camp from Namibia to northern Malawi.

Namspace now has close to 100 employees and has been involved in in numerous large-scale projects in Namibia and other African countries.
